When storm Alfrida hit the islands of Åland, Trimble’s solution scaled up and helped to put an end to outages

On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, gusty winds of 40 meters per second caused lots of trees to fall on power lines in the Åland islands. Soon, 14,000 people, half the population, were without electricity.

– It was a fast-paced start to the new year and the following three months, says Jan Lindgrén, Electricity Network Manager at an electric utility Åland's Elandelslag.
The utility quickly scaled up their field crews from the usual 20 to 120.

​- Thanks to the Trimble solution for outage management, we were able to quickly send field crews to repair damage in the most important areas, Lindgrén says.
