What’s new in Trimble NIS 19.1?

5/10/2019

The Trimble NIS main version 19.1 has been released. Some very nice features have been included in the new version to help our users in their everyday work. Here are some of our favorite Highlights.

Limit network visibility in Utility To Go
Grant simple permits to users for different geographical areas in Utility To Go. Area permits are useful for utilities that assign field work to several subcontractors in different areas, or have modeled different network types, such as electricity, water and district heating, in Trimble NIS. You can also prevent users from viewing the network within a special area (such as a military base).

Photos from the field to Trimble NIS
Improve network documentation and send selected photos from the field to Trimble NIS by utilizing the new photo point interface. This way, you can utilize the photos of e.g. complex underground network structures in network operations, maintenance, construction and planning. The photos can be viewed also in Trimble Webmap and Utility To Go.

Earthing network calculation
You can now calculate earthing networks in Trimble NIS and replace some of the laborious earthing measurements in the field. Calculation-based methods are cost efficient and provide better results from the earthing system, especially when the system has many interconnections between distribution substations. This is getting more common as cabling of medium voltage networks increases.

Analyzing outages in exceptional situations
During major events, it’s not uncommon for errors to occur in real-time event logging. Outage analysis has been improved to repair the inconsistent interruption periods in a more automatic and comprehensive way. The retroactive switching state management has been improved by adding new tools for checking the effect of events.
